Miss Dorothy Goes to The Sound

The Sound, San Francisco's annual Jesus festival held at Golden Gate State Park's Bandshell, recently included a special moment this year. Amidst a day filled with music, food, art, and dance, we had the pleasure of introducing Miss Dorothy's Garden: 9 BEE Attitudes to Grow By, a children's picture book for ages 5-8 written by Gwendolyn Faye and illustrated by Robin Swaby.

Celebrating a Century of Service at The Sound

This year, The Sound was an opportunity to get participants involved in honoring the upcoming 100th birthday of Dorothy Witherspoon by launching the preorder campaign for Miss Dorothy's Garden: 9 BEE Attitudes to Grow By. Gwendolyn Faye's latest book pays tribute to Dorothy Witherspoon's century of service.

About Gwendolyn Faye

Gwendolyn Faye, a poet influenced by giants like Nikki Giovanni, Maya Angelou, and Ruby Dee, brought her unique voice to The Sound. She performed works from her book, The Fine Art of Caring, and its accompanying album, Let Me Explain, sharing a lyrical profile of her life experiences with love, family, and faith. At the festival, Gwendolyn kicked off the day's activities by sharing A Love Letter From God to San Francisco, inspired by Miss Dorothy's Garden: 9 BEE Attitudes to Grow By and brought to life by artificial intelligence.
